BIG HEARTS: Abilene artist volunteers at West Texas Fair and Rodeo

ABILENE,Texas (KTAB) - It's not all about the carnival rides, the fair food, stock shows or even the rodeo. There's something else on display that you don't want miss at the 2017 West Texas Fair and Rodeo.

"First thing that goes on my calender, fair week," says Ginny Yaddow, an Abilene resident.

Yarrow is a volunteer and an artist, "I like to draw. I wouldn't enter any of my drawings. But I do, I love art."

She may be modest about her own work but she is certainly moved by the work of others.

"It's the people. What they can create. It's very interesting," Yaddow adds.

This marks her 10th year helping in the Fine Arts Department.

Yaddow says, "From one year to the next, I forget but it doesn't take you long to know how to put something on or how to fill out the ticket."

She takes in the art submissions and helps organize them, "I love seeing the imagination of some people that come up with some printings."

However, Yaddow's favorite part about volunteering is being with other volunteers who want to help the Taylor County Expo Center too.

"It's just something to volunteer to do. I enjoy it. I enjoy visitijng with the people. The fellowship with seeing all these people year after year," says Yaddow.

Yaddow is one of 700 volunteers at the West Texas Fair and Rodeo.
