Pheben Kassahun

Weekend Anchor and Multi-Media Journalist

Pheben Kassahun discovered her love for journalism after anchoring and doing the morning announcements for her high school's video production class.

She graduated from the University of Arkansas (go Hogs!!), where she majored in journalism (with a concentration in broadcast & radio) and political science. During her time at the UofA, Pheben was a reporter for the award-winning, student-run broadcast station, UATV and was a features staff writer for The Arkansas Traveler.

During college, she interned for KNWA/FOX24 News, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Pheben was offered a position as a digital content and producer before graduating in December 2015. Her experience there really helped her understand how newsrooms operate and helped her prepare for her first reporting job! Pheben later moved out of the South for the first time to take on her first reporting job in Idaho Falls, Idaho, in September 2016! She misses the people there but definitely not the below-zero temperatures!

Pheben was born and raised in the Dallas area. Hailing from the Lone Star State, she is ecstatic to have returned, getting do what she loves and being close to family. She joined KRBC News as a reporter and weekend anchor/producer in May 2017.

When she's not at the station, you can find Pheben exploring the outdoors, whether it's riding/walking the bikes trails, hiking, etc. She loves listening to music, singing and dancing.

Pheben is excited to be here in the Big Country delivering news that matters to you! If you have a news story, feel free to email her at pkassahun@krbc.tv or you can chat with her on social media: @PKassahunTV (Twitter), Pheben Kassahun (Facebook).
