A large part of spicing up those meals is choosing the right spice blend or seasoning for whatever you're whipping up. "We've got over 150 spices and spiced blends and we're set up in the store so you can come in the store and smell them before you buy them," says Jason Beard, owner of Cordell's. It can be a very crucial shopping technique when preparing that meal.
"The vast majority of when you taste something is because of what you smell. So being able to smell the spices before you buy them, you're going to know if they're fresh, you're going to already start to taste them in the dishes you're getting ready to prepare and it's also going to get some sparks going in your head as far as some other dishes you can use those spices on."
Beard even mentions a few good Fall seasonings for those tailgating barbeques such as paprika, chili powder, as well as really good high quality black pepper and sea salt.
