The Alzheimer’s Association invites Big Country residents to unite in a movement to reclaim the future for millions by participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, September 20, 2014. The two-mile Walk begins at 8:00 am with opening ceremonies led by this year’s honorary chair, Mayor Norm Archibald. Before they begin their trek, walkers will join in a meaningful ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease. Those living with Alzheimer’s will be honored and those who have succumbed to the disease are remembered. The Walk will take place at Rose Park Senior Center located at S. 7th and Barrow Street in Abilene. Walkers will return to a festive atmosphere with refreshments, prizes, team photos, face painting for children and the well-loved music of Big Country’s own Elvis tribute artist Harvey McFadden.
