Sidewalks, tornado sirens, and an animal hospital were all apart of the discussion, as the committee listened to different pitches including everything from updating the civic center to finding more ways the zoo could rake in more money.
While stationed in Afghanistan, SSG Michael C Murphrey was killed in action on September 6, 2005. In his memory, his family created a scholarship fund and has awarded a scholarship each May to a graduating Clyde High School Student. This year to help raise money for the scholarship fund, the family of SSG Murphrey, the City of Clyde, and the Clyde Chamber of Commerce are banding together to put on this Memorial 5K Run/Walk to honor the fifth anniversary of his passing. The event will begin at 9:00am at the Clyde Elementary School and end at the Memorial Wall at the Clyde City Park on Stephens Street. Everyone is encouraged to stay at the park for a Citywide Picnic. The cost to participate is $20 for individuals, or registration for 4 for $60. Please contact the Chamber for more details.
