New details on a Friday night crash that killed three people West Lubbock. It happened about 9:00pm on 19th street near Alcove. Police say a Jeep Cherokee swerved into oncoming traffic and struck a pickup truck.
Police believe the jeep may have swerved to miss a dog in the road. As a result, three people inside the jeep were killed.
On Saturday, police released the names of those victims. Jesse Maldonado, 27, was the driver. Erica Ysasaga, 27, and their three year old daughter Joceline Maldonado were passengers in the Jeep and died at the scene. Their other daughter seven year old Priscilla Maldonado was seriously injured and remained hospitalized Saturday afternoon.
If the names of Erica Ysasaga and her daughter Priscilla sound familiar, they were the victims of a kidnapping an amber alert in Lubbock back in 2006. That's when a Lubbock woman posed as a hospital nurse and abducted baby Priscilla from Ysasagas home when she was just four days old.
The FBI was called in to help investigate and the case gained national media attention. After a 24 hour search, the suspect left Priscilla in her carseat underneath a carport.
The infant was then returned to Erica Ysasaga who thanked the community for their prayers and support.
