A 10-year-old girl was attacked by a dog leaving her with multiple open wounds, forty stitches and seven staples in her head. According to a family member of the victim, the animal was a loose pitbull.

Shortly after the incident, owners of the dog gave up ownership and turned the animal over to the city. In any bite case, animal control is required to have the animal go through a 10-day rabies quarantine period. In this case, after the 10-day period, the animal will be humanely euthanized.
