Abilene Girl Calls 911 Twice in Eight Months, Parents Shot Months Apart

The Abilene girl who called 911 after seeing her mother shot and killed in north Abilene last May was put in the same position again eight months later, this time to report her father’s shooting.

The girl, 11 at the time, called 911 in May of 2016 when her mother, Sona Olivia Trucks, was murdered.  The deadly shooting happened on the 1900 block of Clinton, one day before Neveah’s 12th birthday.

Trucks’ live-in boyfriend, Manuel Talavera, 45, was charged with the crime.

The family tells KTAB and KRBC that the girl had to call 911 again Wednesday night when her father, Juan Delacruz, was shot on the 1100 block of Plaza Street.

The girl was placed with her father after her mother was killed.  There is no indication of any relation between the two shootings.

Police are still looking for the man who shot Delacruz.

The man who shot Trucks is currently in the Taylor County Jail on a murder charge.

The girl is now in the custody of her grandmother.
