An Abilene native is working on a goal that only a few people across the world have accomplished.

37-year-old, Dana Jaworski grew up in Abilene, swimming for Cooper High School. She moved to Alaska nine years ago and continued to fulfill her passion for the sport. She became a swim coach and is now taking her interest to a higher level.

On August 15th, she will swim across Kachemak Bay, a 4 mile stretch in Alaska, totaling to about two hours of swimming. She says obstacles included the cold temperatures, jelly fish and other wildlife.

She was back in Abilene and practicing for the challenge by swimming the length of the Lake Fort Phantom Dam, four times.
