Abilene PD Now Offering Medication Drop-off Site - No Questions Asked!

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The Abilene Police Department is now offering a safe space for residents to dispose of excess or expired prescriptions and other medications.

A Medication Drop Box that has been placed in the lobby of the Law Enforcement Center at 450 Pecan Street will be available for public use after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Anyone will be able to drop medication into the box during normal business hours - no questions asked!

Abilene Police teamed up with the Taylor Alliance for Prevention and the Abilene Regional Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse to make this medication drop box in an attempt to curb prescription drug abuse.

"Taylor County reports to have a higher rate of opioid prescription claims when compared to the regional, state and national rates," according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
