What do you think when you hear the phrase "attitude adjustment"?

Maybe a parent referring to their child, or a teacher to their students?

Well one Abilene employer is using the phrase on a sign in front of his restaurant to let his customers know better customer service will be served up soon.

Schlotzsky's owner, John Herod, says he plans to reopen with a whole new attitude. Many who didn't know they were closed were in disbelief when asked to read the sign. One woman even stopped to take pictures of the sign, so she could put it on her Facebook page.

We heard one word, more than once, to described the sign in front of the Schlotzsky's Deli in Abilene:

Herod shut the doors last week after he says he noticed a decline in customer service.

"It was not a secret with our customers as to what was happening, the poor service, there weren't a lot of smiles, the service was slower than what our customers deserved, and that we expected."

The fact that he is not making a secret about cleaning house, literary and figuratively, has got customers on his side.

One customer who tried to order at the drive-thru, then realized the restaurant was closed said, "I like it, because it at least lets us know that he is doing something about it."

Herod says his employees will be going through retraining on everything from cleaning to preparing the food. Just as any affective attitude adjustment needs, is time to reflect, hence the closed sign.

Harod said, "I want employees to have time to think about the job they were doing, and the service they were giving out, so part of it is internal, for each employee."

Herod will have a grand reopening in a few days and things will be back to normal, only without the attitude. The sign says they will be re-open on the 4th, but there was more adjusting than Herod thought. The date has been pushed back to December 9.
