Accused Sex Offender out on Bond Arrested for Another Child Sex Crime

Most recent allegations are from reported incident that happened in the 1990s.

TAYLOR COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - An Abilene man out on bond after allegedly sexually assaulting two children under the age of ten is back in jail after another potential victim came forward with information about another child sex crime that's decades old. 

Howard Sturgis, 56, was arrested by the Taylor County Sheriff's Office Thursday afternoon will soon be booked into jail once again in connection to a reported child sex crime that happened over 20 years ago. 

An arrest warrant says an adult came forward to police and told detectives Sturgis had sexually assaulted her when she was 8-years-old in the 1990s. She claims he had inappropriate contact with her on multiple occasions during this time.

Sturgis was arrested alongside his significant other, Chelsea Diaz, 29, last month in connection to more child sex crimes.

Stugis and Diaz are accused of sexually abusing two children under the age of ten for years. Police began investigating when one of the victims made an outcry to a teacher.

During the investigation, the victims told detectives that sometimes, Sturgis and Diaz would make them sniff "spray" from rags before engaging in sexual activity, according to court documents,

Both Sturgis and Diaz have been charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child. The couple was released from jail after posting a $100,000 bond each.
