Thursday, The Local Emergency Planning Committee was concerned they didn't have enough information to prepare for any railroad incident that could occur.
The LEPC said Union Pacific Railroad was not giving them the reports they need to do their job, stating local fire departments were also unaware of the chemicals being transported through the city.
Abilene Fire Department Public Information Officer, Greg Goettsch, says "Everything that we've requested, we've received... we've had a very good working relationship with them."
Lieutenant Goettsch also says Union Pacific is located in Fort Worth, and would quickly arrive to the scene of an accident with well-trained professionals.
We reached out to the Chairman of the LEPC for further comment, but so far, we have not received a response.
