A Harvard study reveals older people exposed to aircraft noise are at an increased risk of being hospitalized for cardiovascular disease.

In fact, the highest levels of aircraft noise had the strongest association with heart-related admissions for people over 65.

Researchers say noise has been shown to cause stress and increased blood pressure, which are both risk factors for heart disease.

Experts suggest reducing aircraft noise by re-routing flights during overnight hours and sound-proofing homes near airports could help reduce these risks for seniors.
