Abilene ISD will have standardized dress codes for all middle school students this year. Dress code will be pants, shorts, or skirts. Parents can buy them in khaki, black, or navy blue. All polo shirts have to be red, white, black, navy blue, royal blue, or gray. The shirts cannot have any logos or monograms on them except AISD school logos.

All clothes must be fitted and sized appropriately.

However, some parents are having difficult finding the right sizes for their children. Many stores around the Key City are running low or selling out of the common sizes for middle school students.

Some stores said the reason why they don't have enough sizes is because the department store buyers bought smaller sizes or did not order enough of the same size.

Many stores said they still have some sizes left but everything is going fast. Plus, with tax free weekend happening this weekend, stores are expected to be busier than usual.

Although it may be difficult to find the right sizes, some parents like the idea of dress codes. Parents believe it will be easier for their children to get ready for school. It will also even out the playing field, as one parent said, since everyone will be wearing the same thing.

It will also be more cost efficient for larger families. They will be able to pass down the same dress codes to their younger children when they approach middle school. To see the full list of where to buy the new dress code visit,
