For weeks, thieves have been getting away with petty cash from businesses in Abilene by breaking into outside vending or coin machines. The Abilene Police Department is now asking for the public's help in finding a person of interest in at least one of the thefts. They've exclusively released two pictures of the man to KTAB news. They say he may have information regarding the break-in of a coin machine at a local laundry facility.

Police say the rash of vending machine thefts began around October 5th. Since then, at least 14-machines have been broken into -- with the most recent happening this week.

Police say the thieves aren't targeting any specific type of businesses. They've targeted machines at grocery stores, motels and local detail shops. Some of the burglaries were caught on outside surveillance cameras. Through those videos, police have identified two suspects they believe are responsible for some of the thefts. Detectives are working to finding those two individuals and make an arrest.

In addition to asking for the public's help in identifying the man named as a person of interest, Abilene PD is also asking the community to be on alert. They say if you see or hear something suspicious happening near a coin or vending machine, call the police. If you have any information regarding the string of thefts, you're urged to call the Abilene Police Department or Crimestoppers at 676-TIPS or 676-8477.
