But some parents decided not to wait on getting their children's vaccinations done. Kay Durilla, with the Abilene-Taylor Country Public Health District says that school starts on the 25th, and if children don't have their immunizations, school will not allow them.
Durilla said that the clinics started seeing parents around mid-July, but now that it is August they have a constant flow of parents coming in. Durilla says that parents should go to the clinics now or they may be waiting an hour.
She also wants to remind parents to bring their children's immunization records with them which will help speed up the process. Immunizations are done Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM.
The prices of vaccines vary from person depending on their insurance and what a family can qualify for.
