The Lone Star Fair & Expo and Rattlesnake Roundup this year had a positive effect on Brownwood's economy, business owners say.

The event drew in a large crowd including vendors from out of town, even as far as Missouri and Arizona. Restaurant owners and hotel managers say they were consistently busy during the three-day festival.

A couple of local restaurants such as Skillet's say they saw many people that weren't their regulars and that they were busy throughout the day instead of at certain times.

Crystal Cline of Holiday Inn says their hotel was booked in advance and believes this year's roundup was the busiest.

The chairman of the
Lone Star Fair & Expo and Rattlesnake Roundup said they raised around $27,000. Some of the money will be saved for next year's roundup, but majority will be used to fund scholarships and non-profit organizations.
