For the month of February, Garden World in Abilene is about fifty percent down from where they should be. Manager, Todd Hooper is looking forward to spring and is hoping March goes a little bit better than February.
While customers stayed at home to avoid the slick roads the past few weeks, those who could come into work helped get the store ready for spring. Hooper says they are ahead of schedule with not many boxes left to unpack.
Despite the cold, the store’s flowers are still doing well. A greenhouse helps too. However, Hooper does expect lots of people needing to replant this spring due to the cold temperatures. He’s seen a lot of freeze damage this year.
“A lot of customers come in and ask if this will be the last freeze. I wish I was smart enough to answer that. Who knows what will happen in the future. So we’re just waiting to see,” says Hooper.
