While people around the Big Country are celebrating Independence day, the 4th of July in Comanche marks a somber time for the community.

Dr. Russell Reynolds was killed and three others were injured by a fireworks explosion July 3, 2014.

Friday night, the Comanche High School Stadium was filled with people for a candlelight vigil, instead of their annual fireworks show.

Flowers have been placed outside of Dr. Russell's Comanche office, along with a patriotic decoration. Dr. Reynolds has played a large role in the Fireworks tradition in Comanche. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, along with the other that were hurt. The Kiwanis club has put on the show for more than 20 years.
