Seniors were excited to walk across stage, accept their diplomas, and ready for the next chapter of their life.
For senior, Kenneth Lindsey, he knew his father would not be able to attend his graduation, since he was deployed overseas.
Kenneth last saw his Dad two months ago but only for four days.
So Kenneth's mother, a Cooper High faculty member, and Kenneth's father; who's name is also Kenneth Lindsey, decided to surprise Kenneth Jr. with something he would never forget.
Kenneth Jr.'s father arrived into Abilene last night from Afghanistan. He stayed in a hotel and arrived at graduation twenty minutes before waiting backstage.
Kenneth Sr. sat and waited for his son's turn to walk across the stage. When it was Kenneth Junior's turn, he thought there would be a live feed to Afghanistan so his father could see it.
Instead, Kenneth Sr. handed his son his diploma on stage. Both Kenneth Sr. and Kenneth Jr. couldn't help but cry when they saw each other.
Kenneth Jr. says that this is the greatest graduation gift his dad could have ever given him. He says he wants to get into the military after graduating.
