Friends and family of the Colorado City man gunned down at a Snyder motel are mourning his loss.

Snyder police say Robert Silva, 33, was found with gunshot wounds Tuesday afternoon in the 1000 block of 25th Street. Police arrested Nicole Mann, 24, for murder just minutes later.

Silva's family is still in shock from the news. Family members describe him as someone who would always have your back. The mother, Edwina Silva, said she hadn't seen her son in four months, but is grieving his loss immensely.

"My grandson called me and said my son has been shot," says Edwina. "I don't know why someone would commit such a crime."

The journey Edwina has been on since hearing about her son's murder can only best be described as emotional torment.

"He was my life, he was still my son," Edwina said.

Silva leaves behind two sons and a daughter. The mother of his sons, Diana Lopez, says her kids are heartbroken by the loss.

"He was just a people person and would help anyone," Lopez said. "He's never going to do anything with his sons anymore like he used to, and it's not right that somebody took his life away."

Mann was taken into custody after a traffic violation. With her was a 28 year old man who had been a part of the altercation. Right now, Silva's family is questioning why that man has not been taken into custody. As of Thursday afternoon, Snyder police haven't released any information about the investigation.

Mann is in the Scurry County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
