Family of Abilene Man Accused of Shooting Mother: "Please, Turn Yourself In"

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Family members of an Abilene man accused of shooting his mother in the head Friday morning are pleading with him to "turn himself in" and "do the right thing".

Calvin Dunn, Jr., 21, has been on the run since since allegedly shooting his mother, Rene Crosby, 42, during an altercation at the Abilene North Apartments on the 2400 block of N. Willis Street around 10:00 a.m., according to a press release from the Abilene Police Department. Police are considering him armed and dangerous.

In a Facebook Live interview with KTAB News, family members stated that Crosby was "doing good" and "still fighting". She was in critical condition as she was rushed to the hospital from the scene of the shooting. Her current condition is not known at this time.

The family members who spoke out told KTAB Dunn needs help and they asked him to peacefully surrender.

Members of APD's SWAT team searched a neighborhood on the 2000 block of Park Street around noon after receiving a tip that Dunn may have been hiding in one of the homes, but they were unable to locate him and the scene was cleared just over an hour later.

Anyone who has information on Dunn's whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 to make a report immediately.
