Federal Officials Respond to Reports of ICE in Abilene

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Federal officials say reports of ICE officers raiding locations around Abilene are most likely rumors, but they're working to get more information.

KTAB and KRBC have received several calls and messages claiming agents with Immigration Customs Enforcement have been raiding local businesses for days, detaining several undocumented immigrants in the process.

A representative with the ICE Federal Office says he's been receiving similar reports from cities across the nation.

This representative claims the reports he's investigated have been rumors, but he didn't have any information specific to the Abilene-area.

KTAB and KRBC emailed him a list of Abilene businesses involved in the rumors so he can verify these locations were not actually part of ICE raids.

He also says that ICE officials conduct operations in cities across America year-round.

So far, there has been no evidence to suggest the reports of ICE raids in Abilene are legitimate.

Members of the KTAB and KRBC team have gone to several of the locations involved in the rumors and have reached out to several people who claim they've witnessed these raids, but no concrete information has surfaced during the investigation.
