The Central Texas Gem & Mineral Show was held at the Abilene Civic Center on Saturday and Sunday and included dozens of vendors. Many came out to display their collections of fossils, gems, minerals, jewelry and beads.
In addition to the display, there was a demonstration of jewelry-making from rocks and minerals. According to coordinators, about 1,200 people were in attendance.
"I think everybody has a good time out here," says president Tony Steele. "We've had some vendors come for the last 25 years."
All the proceeds from the event will help fund several college scholarships.
