Researchers in Canada studied over 6,000 new mothers who lived in rural and urban areas.
They found about seven percent of mothers experienced the baby blues.
But one in ten mothers in big cities reported postpartum depression.
The researchers say urban areas have more immigrants who may have less social support in the months after delivery.
