Indicted: Abilene Couple Accused of Making Children Sniff Spray from Rag, Sexually Assaulting Them

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - An Abilene couple accused of sexually assaulting two children under the age of 10 for years has been indicted on multiple charges. 

Chelsea Diaz, 29, and Howard Sturgis, 56, were both indicted on Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and Indecency with a Child - Exposure charges during a Grand Jury session on Thursday. 

Court documents say an investigation into the allegations against Diaz and Sturgis began when one of the victims made an outcry at school.

Both victims were able to describe multiple acts of sexual assault they say Diaz and Sturgis subjected them to, according to court documents, which say one victim also told detectives the couple would make them sniff "spray" from a rag during some of these incidents, and this child was able to show detectives the spray when the couple's home was searched.

Diaz and Strugis remain in the Taylor County Jail. Diaz is being held on a $100,000 bond, and Strugis is being held on bonds totaling $300,000 for these charges and another child sex crime charge connected to another case
