The Almanza family is grateful that Cory Almanza, an Abilene High School student, woke up from his three month long coma earlier this week. Cory's mother, Rudy Flores, was finally able to take Cory home from the hospital. The family has received tremendous support from the community during this time.

Someone from the Abilene community donated their old lift to Cory's mother for their van and Cory's head football coach, Steve Warren, presented the family with a $3,000 dollar check.

Cory's mother had no idea that when Coach Warren came to visit that he would be giving her a check for that much money. The money was donated by Texas coaches, from all over the state, through the Texas High School Football Association.

Cory's mother said that this money will help install the lift into the van, get Cory to the doctors, and get him out around town.
