The smell of pancakes filled the Abilene Civic Center on Saturday for the 65th annual Pancake Day.

The Kiwanis Club of Abilene hosted the event which attracted thousands of people from the Abilene region for one of the club's largest fundraiser.

Over 100 Kiwanis Club members and other volunteers took time out of their Saturday to feed the masses, as a way to say thank-you to the community.

"We started out in 1940 to raise money to support the different ventures for the Kiwanis Club," says Jamie Breed. "We've always targeted services for children, but also other services for the community."

IHOP donated the batter for pancakes, as well as all the trimmings. In addition to the pancakes, visitors were treated to live music and a silent auction.
