The last day to enroll for the Affordable Care Act came with more questions about the complicated health care system. If you did miss the deadline and still wish to sign up though, you may be in luck.

"What they are looking for is something showing that you have tried, but that you could not get through for some reason." explains Health Care Navigator, Connie Cholewinski.

So if you have a consent form signed by a Health Care Navigator, have started the online application process on your own, or have called the health care marketplace hotline, then you are safe, at least for a little longer.

According to Cholewinski, "Tomorrow there will be a button added to the marketplace website that indicates 'I attest' that I have tried to go through but I could not get the application through the system and that will grant you the extension through April 15th to sign up and enroll."

April 15th will be the last chance to sign up until the fall.

One Abilene man who has signed up says that at first, he was not so sure about the ACA. "I was one of those skeptical ones at first then I started looking into in and it wasn't too bad at all. It was actually pretty decent" explains Junior Maldonado.

Maldonado says that the Affordable Care Act has made health insurance a reality for him and his family. "As cheap as it is, it doesn't hurt to try. I got away with ten dollars a month and I have four kids, so that helps me out a lot."

Others say that their current insurance is better than signing up for the ACA. "I did not sign up this year because we already have a really good plan with my husband's job" explains Vania Gonzalez.

If you choose not to sign up at all, expect to pay for it. The maximum fine that you will see out of your 2015 taxes is $285 per family, or 1% of your annual income, whichever is higher.
