La-Dawn Brock was sent to the hospital after she was allegedly assaulted by a classmate. On one side of her eye, she has several stitches and above her other eye, she has liquid stitches.

Those kind of injuries are not what Rosalind Brock ever expected her thirteen year old daughter to come home from school with. 7th grader La-Dawn says that a classmate poured glue on her head, made a racial slur towards her, and when she tried to stand up for herself, they boy allegedly punched her multiple times in the face.

"It seemed like it was a petty I say, it went from zero to sixty just like that. It is like his mind went blank" explains Rosalind.

Rosalind says that she is upset that this happened to her daughter, but also feels sorry for the boy who allegedly punched her too. "I feel for my child, but I also feel for him too, because something is real wrong.

AISD did not want to go on camera for an interview regarding this alleged incident, but did provide KRBC with a statement:

"The safety of our students is always top priority, and while thankfully rare, incidents resulting in injury are taken very seriously.
While it is neither allowable nor appropriate for the District to discuss an individual student's disciplinary status or record, matters such as this are thoroughly investigated both by campus administrators and the Abilene Police Department.
Altercations between students are always regrettable but particularly so when they senselessly escalate to the point of assault and serious injury. Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured student and the family for a complete recovery."

APD says that the suspect was placed into custody and later taken to the Juvenile Detention Center. The offense is Class A misdemeanor assault.
