The case against two nurses indicted in connection with a death at the Abilene State Supported Living Center in 2009, has been dropped.

According to court documents, Janice Sullivan and Deborah Ann Gant were caring for a patient at the center when he started experiencing medical difficulties, which they allegedly failed to report.

The patient died soon after as a result of these complications and both women were eventually indicted on criminal negligent homicide.

Sullivan’s attorney, David Thedford, filed a motion to quash her indictment, and the motion has been granted by a judge. Therefore, the case will be dropped against both women since the original indictment is no longer effective.

The state will have an opportunity to appeal the decision at a later date if desired.
