Abilene city officials are going to ask the city council for authority to spend $200,000 on three properties in the 400 block of Walnut Street.

Council members will have the opportunity to vote on the request to buy 401, 441 and 443 Walnut, which are all currently vacant.

City manager Larry Gilley says the city does not have any plans for the buildings at this time.

It would give them a place for future expansion or allow city officials some control of new developments there.
