Although all seemed well when Ruby Lester spoke on the phone with her daughter and son-in-law, Garland Wade, on Monday night, something in Ruby's mind changed shortly after.

When Mrs. Lester's family arrived to celebrate Christmas with her, she was nowhere to be found. The family began knocking neighbor's doors to see if they had seen her. Within minutes, many neighbors put their Christmas celebrations on hold to search for missing Ruby Lester.

Over fifty volunteers spent the majority of their Christmas day searching. Search efforts were suspended late Wednesday and resumed around 8:00 am Thursday morning. A search helicopter located the body of Mrs. Lester around 150 yards from her home.

Neighbors and friends that helped search could not understand how they missed her. While this terrible tragedy is certainly not what Lester's family hoped for, they are thankful that she was found and for all of the people that generously donated their time and effort in hopes of finding Ruby.

Her family said that she suffered from slight dementia, but that she had never wandered from her home before.
