Coffee Club: From the first contraction, to when you finally take your new bundle of joy home--how much does childbirth cost?

We know, it varies by experience and insurance plans. But how much did YOUR experience cost?

Researchers in California analyzed statewide data for over 100,00 childbirth cases covered by private medical insurance.

They found women were charged anywhere from $3,200 to $37,000 for an uncomplicated delivery--depending on which hospital they visited.

A c-section birth ranged between $8,000 and nearly $71,000.

Experts say an outdated pricing and payment structure, and a lack of regulation for medical charges are the reasons for these discrepancies.
