Starting next year, stricter rules go into effect, requiring schools to serve students one fruit or vegetable, reduce sodium and serve more whole grains.
Last week, a house subcommittee moved to waive the rule, saying some schools are having trouble meeting the new expectations and there are concerns that a lot of produce will end up in the trash.
