Habitat for Humanity is giving women a special opportunity to learn from one-another while building a home for a deserving family.

The special Women Build Team will take place May 3 though 11.

Women are always welcome to take part in every Habitat for Humanity build, however, according to Habitat for Humanity, women often lack the experience or confidence to take part in aspects of building aside from painting, cleaning and landscaping.

Clinics will be held on Saturday, April 12 and Saturday, April 26, to help teach interested women site safety, how to measure and cut, basic tool usage, reading house plans and construction terminology.

The clinics will take place at 350 Cornerstone CT. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lunch will be provided and there will be prizes.

To reserve your spot and sign up for the build, contact Karen at 325-670-0489 or email her at kmendoza@abilenehabitat.org.

The build will benefit the Madrid family. Regina Madrid is a single mother who has worked at Metro Care for the past four and a half years. She and her family currently rent a home with bad plumbing, mold in the bathroom, a leaking roof, heating issues and termites. The Madrid’s new home will be located on the corner of Congress and North Pioneer.
