A European research team analyzed data of more than 300,000 people across Europe. A person's risk for developing lung cancer rose when they lived in areas with greater air pollution. The more pollution, the higher the risk. Another study looked at heart failure hospitalizations in the U.S. and several other countries. Researchers found that breathing polluted air can worsen cases of heart failure, leading to hospitalizations and sometimes, death.
