Elmwood Funeral Home has announced a generous donation of $15,000 to Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene.
Hendrick Hospice Care, which provides hospice care and assisted living facilities for hospitals, recently announced plans to construct a new state of the art facility during its 30th Anniversary Celebration. Currently, the facilities do not have dedicated space for educational sessions or family gatherings.
With this in mind, Hendrick will construct a 40,800 square-foot complex which will include inpatient hospice care, a bereavement center, home care offices, space for volunteer training, common areas for families and visitors and extensive outdoor landscaping. The future site will serve to provide a more comfortable stay for residents and their loved ones.
“Elmwood Funeral Home wants to support the community knowing that hospice care is an important part of the quality of life for many family's loved ones,” said Doug Ray, general manager of Elmwood. “Our donation will be specifically geared towards the new courtyard and fountain area of the new building.”
Ray and Elmwoodʼs Senior Family Counselor, Jeff Utter met with Abilene's Mayor and Vice President of Hendrick Hospice, Norm Archibald to present the check personally.
Construction for the new site at Hendrick Hospice is scheduled to begin in February 2015.
