The Texas Workforce Commission partnered with Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas to host this year's Hiring Red, White, and You event. This event is designed to get veterans, active duty, and their spouses under the same roof with employers looking to hire.

These events take place all over the state and Texas Workforce Commission estimates that around 2,800 hires resulted from the job fairs in 2012. This is just the second year for this program.

Many employers explained that hiring military is something they see as a bonus because of the determination and perseverance they likely possess.

Stacy Nichols, an Air Force Tech Sergeant, plans to retire in July and used the event to see what opportunities are out there.

Richard Garza served in the Army from 1973-1982 and is seeking a full-time position. He is hopeful after the job fair and has a few interviews set up.
