A kitten is dead after someone reportedly threw it out the window of a moving car in Abilene Thursday morning. Now, the people who saw it happen want justice to be served.

It happened around 10 Thursday morning at the 100 block of Merchant Street. The kitten was thrown from a white, four-door sedan with a white male driver with grey hair. The kitten hit a tree and then fell to the ground. It died later in the afternoon from its injuries.

Rescue the Animals is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who are responsible for the kitten's death. They say this happens several times a year.

The two men who found the kitten say the unnecessary cruelty needs to stop, and they hope finding the person responsible will help do just that.
