A troop of Dyess Airmen recently deployed carrying with them some sweet reminders of home due to a local Girl Scout Troop.

Girl Scout Troop 7200 from Abilene sold 9,769 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies during the 2014 cookie season.

Of those boxes, 468 of them were sent overseas to our troops through our Project Troop to Troop through Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains.

They were sent with the 40th squadron that deployed out of Dyess Air Force Base this month.

Troop 7200 has 27 active girls from 1st grade through 8th grade and 50 percent of these girls have an active military parent, one of which is currently deployed and several more deploy in the next couple of months.

Last year the girls sent over 200 boxes to our military overseas. This year’s goal was 400 boxes.
