Holland Medical High School and Hardin-Simmons University will serve as hosts to nearly 900 health and science students and their advisors.

The Area V Health Occupations Students of America Spring Leadership Conference attracted health science students from the DFW area, Wichita Falls, San Angelo, as well as Temple and Waco.

The participating students competed in more than thirty-five skills competitions. The competitions ranged from Biomedical Debate to Medical Spelling, to Extemporaneous Writing.

Long time HOSA sponsor, Emily Livingston, explains that besides looking good on a resume, these competitions give the students a chance to gain confidence by showing what they have learned.

The top three students in each category will advance to the state HOSA competition which will be held in San Antonio on March 27-29.
