Charges will not be filed against the driver who hit two young girls on a busy South Abilene road Wednesday. Folks who live in that neighborhood say that it's not uncommon for cars to speed by the crosswalk unaware that children may be crossing.

They say they aren't surprised this happened. In fact, they're often concerned for their own childrens' safety there. They attribute the lack of safety to the speed at which cars travel. Some say it's the area.

Police say the girls are around 11-years old and were hit at a crosswalk at South 27th street and Marshall.

Police believe the girls will be okay.
