Parkour: Overcoming Life's Obstacles

It comes as no surprise that many feel children are spending too much time parked in front of the television.

What may come as a surprise is what one Abilene based group, Odyssey Parkour, has decided to do about it.

"We saw a need for it and we saw this big desire to have this structured play time," stated Justin Anderson, head coach of Odyssey Parkour.

This play time is also know as free running, something the kids love.

While many parents may have to push kids to participate in other various exercise or sports programs, it seems this is not the case here.

"We have parents being begged to get into the class," continued Anderson.

Parkour, as many know, is a sport based on getting from point A to point B as quickly as possible, while overcoming many obstacles.

In this class, coaches challenge students not to simply overcome the obstacles on the course, but to be thinking about how to overcome obstacles in their lives.

The coaches hope to strengthen their students in all aspects, from physical, to spiritual.

"That's a big part of what we do," finished Anderson.
