"We had a pretty good idea. We were just looking for one game," said Eastland head coach Brian Hulett.
That's not the case for some though.
"You can think that you have things ready, but when you get your packet and see it, then start completely over," said Albany head coach Denny Faith.
"They were going to try and put it where there were six [teams] in each district. Then we got five. So, it's tough. It's really tough. I know we're still looking for games. I'm sure every one in our district is still looking for games," said Wylie head coach Hugh Sandifer.
The Wylie Bulldogs may have picked up one of the toughest draws in the state, never mind just in Class 4A Div. I. For the next two years they will be in a district with Stephenville, Brownwood, Snyder, and Big Spring.
"Our guys will be excited to play. These are good teams. You look at the playoff run Big Spring put together this year, Stephenville put together this year. Everybody in this district was a playoff team," said Sandifer.
One of the other notable changes this year is the return of the "Eastland Country War" between the Cisco Loboes and Eastland Mavericks. A game that has not been played since 2009.
"It's a good rivalry game I'm sure. There's going to be lots of people there, and with us dropping down we pretty much assumed that was a given. We just didn't know from there which way we would head, and it turns out we're heading up north. We've got to get to learning those guys, and see those guys, haven't been around them in a few years. So, we'll go see what they got," said Hulett.
For others a new district means some new faces, as well as some familiar foes on the schedule.
"Pretty close to the same district. We're looking forward to that. We know those guys really well and enjoy competing against them. In our non-district stuff we've got some new teams. We're just ready to get started. Wish it was August," said Faith.
