The 5th Annual Rodney Holder Memorial Blood Drive will take place on Wednesday, July 2 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The location of the blood drive has been changed to the Meek Blood Center at the Cedar Mall, 1150 N. 18th St. in Abilene. Hail damage to two of the center's bloodmobiles prohibits the drive from occurring at the KTAB/KRBC studios as originally planned.

Officer Holder was a veteran Abilene police officer who was killed in the line of duty in April 2010. Holder died after his APD motorcycle collided with a car that had turned in front of him on Sayles Blvd.

This year's theme is "Guns and Hoses," as the Abilene Police Department and the Abilene Fire Department are challenging all law enforcement and firefighters/EMS to come out and donate. Whoever gets the most pints of blood donated will get bragging rights.

Every blood donor will receive free Blue Bell ice cream and a patriotic t-shirt. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Fireman Jake's hot dog truck will be providing free hot dog lunches to all donors.

Donors from the general public can choose to be on the "Guns" team or the "Hoses" team.
