Taylor County sheriff deputies will not be getting a pay raise this year after the county commissioners denied their request in the county budget.

The commissioners did approve a raise in salary for newly hired deputies, raising the salary from $25,000 a year to $27,000 a year.

The first ever sheriff's association, which was created to fight for these raises, says they aren't done fighting for more pay.

They plan on voicing their concerns at the public hearings in September, and will fight to be on the budget for the FY 2015.
