This Saturday is expected to be the most popular date to get married so far this year.

According to David's Bridal, just over 26,000 thousand nationwide are expected to tie the knot. KRBC's Nora Hartfeil caught up with a wedding expert about what trends brides should be aware of.

We are talking with bridal expert, Amanda Gizzi, of Jewelry Information Center to let us in on some of the latest wedding trends.

Q: What are the top trends in engagement rings?

A:Platinum is a top choice by women for their own engagement ring. The top platinum engagement ring trends are halo settings, cluster or composite rings, fancy shape stones, art deco styles and those with color gemstones.

Q: What advice would you give to a woman picking out a ring for her fiance?

A:The best cue is to picking up on signals and cues that they drop. Take into account personality and style. And take a trip to your local jewelry store.

Q: As you know, weddings can get expensive fast. Which areas of the wedding would you suggest cutting back on, and which areas should brides splurge on?

A: Flowers will die unless they're fake, so invest in something that's going to last. Like jewelry and a good photographer.
