According to the assistant fire chief for the Cross Plains Fire Department, the fire burning just three miles west of Cross Plains along Highway 36 is now 40-50 percent contained.

The fire is in heavy brush and so far no structures are being threatened.

The fire is estimated to have burned around 70 to 100 acres.

A dozer truck is being used to help contain the fire.

We will have more information as it becomes available.
